I am a compassionate, client-centered Occupational Therapist specializing in paediatric and complex cases, with a particular expertise in sensory needs. From developmental support for children to rehabilitation and adaptive strategies for adults, I support clients at every stage of life toward a more fulfilling, balanced future.

I hold a Masters of Science in Occupational Therapy from Dalhousie University, after an undergraduate degree in Chemistry at Queen's University. My approach is grounded in trauma-informed and neurodivergent-affirming practice, with a passion for mental-health awareness, 2SLGBTQIA+ advocacy, and community accessibility.

Outside of work, I enjoy time outdoors with my daughter and dog, hiking, and discovering new restaurants in our community.

Why we exist

Why Functional Focus Therapy Was Created

Functional Focus Therapy was created from a passion for holistic, client-centered wellness — meeting both adults and children where they are in the community, and offering personalized care in a compassionate, supportive environment.

Why Clients Matter

As your therapist, I deeply value your unique journey. You are not just a client — you are an essential partner in working toward greater independence and a fuller daily life. Your goals, challenges, and progress guide every step of our work together.

Our approach

Our Approach To Therapy

We take a personalized, holistic approach designed around each individual — a supportive, positive space where you feel comfortable and motivated to work toward your goals. It is the same approach whichever discipline you see, and often the answer is more than one of them working together.

  1. A relaxed assessment

For children, a playful approach that reveals strengths and areas for growth; for adults, a practical look at daily challenges. This first step builds a roadmap for success.

  2. A plan that fits you

A customized therapy plan — fine-motor skills, sensory strategies, and self-regulation for children; managing daily tasks, focus, and new challenges for adults.

  3. Meaningful activity

We work on goals through enjoyable, real-life activities — games, arts, and crafts for kids; organizing, cooking, and work tasks for adults — with kindness, patience, and flexibility.

  4. Confidence & independence

Progress that feels achievable and rewarding — the skills and confidence to live more independently and enjoy everyday activities with ease.

Every session meets you with kindness, patience, and a flexible mindset — for every age, and across every discipline we offer.

Common outcomes

Common Outcomes of Therapy

The goal of therapy is always real, meaningful results. Every journey is unique, but these are the outcomes clients commonly experience at Functional Focus — across occupational therapy and behaviour support.

Greater independence

Getting dressed, completing household tasks, and managing daily routines — the skills to do more on your own, with more confidence.

Improved motor skills

Better handwriting, tying shoes, and fine-motor tasks for children; cooking, typing, and manual tasks with greater ease for adults.

Sensory strategies

Getting more comfortable with textures, sounds, and environments, and handling sensory overload more effectively.

Being understood

A reliable way to make a need known — through functional communication training, visual supports, or a communication system that works where speech does not. Being able to ask, refuse and join in.

Fewer hard moments

Behaviour support that works out what a behaviour is achieving and teaches an easier way to achieve it, so the difficult moments become rarer and shorter.

Focus & attention

Stronger attention, concentration, and self-regulation to support success at school, work, and home.

Emotional regulation

Improved strategies for managing stress and frustration, and staying calm in challenging situations.

Confidence

A real boost in confidence as new skills are mastered, challenges are met, and independence grows.

Connection & belonging

For children and adults alike — stronger communication, social interaction, and relationship-building.
